Chicago, IL - A memorial was held at the Assyrian National Council of Illinois (ANCI-Mootwa) Saturday, March 15, 2008 for the late Chaldean Catholic archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahoo. Matran Faraj Rahoo was kidnapped on Feb. 29 and later found dead near the Iraqi city of Mosul.
The Assyrian Democratic Movement Party canceled their annual Akito festivities in Chicago which were to be held this evening as a mark of respect for the late Matran.
Members of the community gathered at the ANCI building to pay their respects and mourn the loss of a courageous leader.
May God rest the soul of Matran Faraj Rahoo, a martyr for our beloved nation.
